Four of us had a table booked for 7pm at The Alchemist – Bevis Marks. Due to the Covid outbreak, booking was mandatory however, even if it had been a normal circumstance, I would definitely recommend booking as it was very busy!

Upon arrival, the staff we’re nice and welcoming and took us to our table after we queued outside for about ten minutes. The table was upstairs and in the corner next to the counter. The only downside to this was we could see what was happening in the kitchen next to us and we witnessed a staff member dropping a few things which wasn’t the most professional start.

Our waitress was lovely and she recommended a few drinks for us which was good as we weren’t familiar with any of the drinks on the menu as they are are all unique to The Alchemist.

The two boys ordered ‘The Colour Changing One’ which was: Grey Goose Vodka, Briottet Apple, Soda, Citrus. They said this was lovely and the dry ice effect was a great touch. (see image below)

‘The Colour Changing One’

Myself and Scarlett then ordered ‘The Mad Hatter’s Drink for Two’ which was: Ketel One Vodka, Citrus, St. Germain, Cointreau And Summer Fruits. The presentation for this one was amazing and it definitely stood out. We had to wait about 10 minutes for the drink to heat up and evaporate into the jar but it was great! In terms of taste, it wouldn’t be my ‘go to’ drink but I could see why others would enjoy it! It’s very zesty and refreshing. (see images below)

The last drink we ordered was ‘The Zombie Apocalypse’ which was: Bacardi Carta Blanca Rum, Wray & Nephew, Grand Marnier, Lime, Pineapple, Cranberry, Zombie Mix, Smoke. This was VERY strong and is not for the lightweights out there…me included. We had a little syringe with absinthe in it that we had to put into the drink too. Lets just say, after this, I started drinking water for a while. (see videos below)

Lastly, we had to try their Pornstar Martini because I feel like this is everyones ‘go to’ drink – which was lovely by the way!

In terms of Interior decoration, it is pretty dim lit in there and the tables are quite close together. The dim lighting is good as it fits the dark magic/science theme but I wouldn’t say it was very eye catching.

Overall, this was a great experience and I would urge you to go there and experience the different weird and wonderful cocktails they have to offer!
