Scarlet Rasoi – The O2, London.

I would definitely recommend this restaurant for its food as it tasted amazing and its something a little different than your usual restaurant - just make sure you book and you go when you're not in a rush!

We attended Scarlet Rasoi after going to the Greenwich Peninsula Driving Range in the evening. We wanted something a little bit different that we don’t always eat and I mentioned how I haven’t had thai food in a long time. We quickly made a booking before we went to golf to avoid disappointment as its proving so difficult to get a table at the minute due to the 50% off Monday – Wednesday and the Covid outbreak.

Initially, it took a while to be seen, I assumed it’s because they were busy however they didn’t have that many tables. Eventually we were served after about 15 minutes and then taken to our table. The interior decoration was nice, classy and I liked how you could see them cooking behind the glass screen on the left hand side. It was also very clean and the tables were set nicely.

I decided to have a glass of rosé and Martin had a Cobra. After getting our drinks which took approximately 15 minutes, we then ordered our food. I ordered the King Prawn Pad Thai and Martin got the Butter Chicken Curry. We also decided to get a garlic naan on the side.

The food took quite a while to come out, probably about 35 minutes which is quite a long time when you’re hungry. However, when the food did come out, it was amazing! The flavours in my pad Thai were beautiful and the butter chicken curry was so tasty and full of flavour.

In terms of the staff, there were a couple of issues. I could tell the manager was getting extremely stressed as the 50% off was quite difficult to work out. I did feel quite sorry for him as there was a very awkward customer on the table next to us that was giving him quite a lot of grief and shouting at him about getting the bill wrong. This meant that we waited at least 35 minutes again, if not more, to get our bill! A couple next to us had also waited an extremely long time to get their bill and pay for their food.

Once we were finally able to pay, the waiter that served us was extremely apologetic and helpful and mentioned how they are not usually that slow and they were having difficulty with the bills due to the 50% off government scheme. Despite having to wait, the fact that he apologised was very nice and restored my faith in the restaurant staff.

I would definitely recommend this restaurant for its food as it tasted amazing and its something a little different than your usual restaurant – just make sure you book and you go when you’re not in a rush!
