My boyfriend and I attended The Quills for a quick breakfast after searching around on Google in the morning. We wanted to go somewhere a little different instead of going to another chain restaurant, and it was definitely a great choice!
We booked half an hour before (to avoid disappointment during the Government 50% off scheme) and got there around 11:20am.
The staff we’re very pleasant and polite and approached us straight away. The room we walked into was very crowded and quite hot so I was dreading sitting in there however, we were taken to the other side which was much quieter and cooler. First impressions were; great space, nice and quirky. The only downside was that the table was quite sticky, probably due to the over-cleaning during covid (I hope)
It took around 5 minutes to be served which was great as I was STARVING! Our order consisted of: 2 x Coca Colas, 2 x BLTs and 1 x plate of pancakes.
The food came out in approximately 10 minutes so we didn’t have to wait long at all. Initial thoughts on the presentation of the food were great. It looked very presentable and I liked the old/vintage style plates. The only part that I thought could have been improved were the two pancakes as they looked pretty sad on the plate (especially after they were left a little bit while we ate our BLTs)
The BLT was delicious, the only thing I would have changed would be the amount of fat on the bacon however, that’s just my personal preference and I know a lot of people enjoy the fat. The pancakes were actually very nice (despite the presentation) and they had just the right amount of maple syrup on them.
Overall, I would go here again as the staff were lovely and the food was very tasty. There are many options on their menu so I would probably try something different next time.
