Overall rating:
Four of us decided to go on a nice walk around Herne Bay during Tier 3, to get out of the house and get some fresh air next to the coast.
As it’s such a big place, you don’t come close to anyone at all which is a bonus! We were also very lucky as we managed to find parking that was free on Beacon Hill (if you park in the main Herne Bay car park you have to pay to park)

We walked for around an hour and then grabbed some fish and chips from a nearby fish and chip shop. We then made our way to the pier which isn’t the most amazing place ever however, they have really made an effort to try and make it enjoyable for Tier 3!
There are lots of stalls/shops that sell little trinkets, beach gifts and there are food and drink stalls that you can buy from! The thing I liked the most was the outdoor Santa’s Grotto. Even though it wasn’t the best one I’ve ever seen, I really loved how they had made an effort for children because all of the indoor Grottos I know of are shut which ruins the Christmas cheer for so many little ones!
To be completely honest, there isn’t a massive amount to do on the pier but it’s just nice to see people out and accommodating the small amount of tourists that come their way.
After walking around the pier, we walked to get a hot chocolate at the café next to the pier and then took a slow walk back to the car.
Overall, it was a lovely day out and it was great to see our friends as I haven’t really been out anywhere. It you have a day free and the weather is lovely, drive to Herne Bay!
See below for information about the places we visited:
Hot chocolate from Mkcari’s
Fish and chips from Sunset Fish Bar (It doesn’t have a website so I have linked to Trip Advisor)
