Four of us stayed in The Apartment at the Barn for a long weekend in October. As we haven’t been able to go on holiday anywhere this year, we thought a staycation would be the best way to get away, even if it was for a couple of days.
We booked The Apartment at the Barn through Airbnb a couple of months prior and it was around £200 each which we thought was pretty reasonable for a long weekend (3 nights). We also expected it to be more expensive because at the time, lots of people were booking staycations as we couldn’t (and still can’t) travel out of the UK without quarantining.
Prior to our arrival the host, Kate, was so attentive. She kept in contact with us before we got to our accommodation (which was attached to her house but we had a separate little apartment with its own entrance) and gave us lots of recommendations for our trip. She also explained exactly how to get into the property!
When we arrived, we got a little stuck with getting in and tried to enter through Kate’s household gates (which we shortly realised that we read the instructions wrong after Kate’s husband explained on the phone). Despite getting a bit stuck, Kate and her husband were great and very helpful! During our stay, the hosts were away for the weekend so we were there alone until Monday. In normal circumstances, Kate usually greets her guests and welcomes them in but, we were more than happy with everything beforehand anyway.
First impressions of the apartment were…WOW! It was so clean, the interior design was beautiful and had a really homely feel to it and we were given a large basket of different snacks and foods for the weekend which was a really nice touch.
There was only one room, and then a sofa bed in the front room which was completely fine as both beds were extremely comfy! I loved the high ceilings and the amount of effort that had gone into every room. I also loved the fact that we were provided with toiletries such as: sanitary products, paracetamol and cold & flu, cotton buds etc. This was a great touch as it isn’t usually common to be given so many different products, especially for free! There was a dishwasher, a large fridge, a washing machine, an iron and ironing board and microwave so we could pretty much live there as we usually would!
On Sunday we wanted to put the dishwasher on and realised that we didn’t have any dishwasher tablets. Kate was so lovely and constantly checked in with us to ensure that our stay was going okay. We mentioned to her that we didn’t have any dishwasher tablets and she got her mum to drop some off while we were gone.
The reason why I loved this stay so much is because it felt so homely. Kate was amazing and her exceptional hospitality really shouldn’t go unnoticed, especially after she went to extreme lengths to ensure that our stay was enjoyable, comfortable and just overall amazing.
I couldn’t fault a thing with my stay, It is by far the best Airbnb I have ever stayed in. If you are thinking of staying anywhere in the UK, I couldn’t recommend The Apartment at the Barn enough – It truly is such a beautiful space to stay in and it is so close to the city centre so you never have to worry about having to travel far.
