My boyfriend and I wanted to do something a little special for Valentines Day, as it was our first one together, so we decided to buy a home kit from Homeslice Pizza which came with a live masterclass. We would have gone out for dinner however, due to lockdown, we were restricted!
To begin, It costed us £45 which I thought was slightly overpriced for pizza however, they sent us all of the ingredients and did a zoom masterclass which taught us exactly how to do everything, from start to finish. Considering the price of alcohol, plus a brownie for dessert and two pizzas with toppings, I thought it was pretty reasonable!
The ingredients that they sent us are below:
x2 Pizza Dough
Your choice of topping (Salami Rocket & Parmesan, Margherita or Vegan Margherita)
Mozzarella (or Vegan Cheese)
Brown Sugar
Tinned Tomatoes
Oregano
Basil
Grenadine
Creme de Cacao
x2 Gin (or non alchoholic)
Rose Water
Lemon
Vanilla Syrup
Dried Rose Petals
Fairy Floss
Chocolate Brownie (or Vegan Brownie)
It took around a week for our ingredients to turn up and then they sent the link out for the zoom call a couple of days beforehand which was pretty good. The only thing that I wasn’t happy about was the fact that my Creme de Cacao had split in the box so I couldn’t include that in my drink. The pots with liquid in could have probably done with being in little bottles instead (maybe like the ones you can buy for going on holiday?) as it would have prevented it from spilling!
So, the next part of the process was getting on the zoom call…we weren’t actually able to make the live zoom call but I am kind of glad that we didn’t because my boyfriend and I are both pretty impatient and they kept taking breaks to answer questions etc. We ended up watching the recording of the zoom call the next day which was good as we could fast forward the parts that were taking a long time. We also found that they occasionally whizzed over things so we had to pause and go back a couple of times to ensure we didn’t forget anything!
At the end of the masterclass, they mentioned that they sell part baked pizzas (so you can cook the rest at home) which I thought was a really cool idea too!
Overall, it was actually a really pleasant and fun experience! The cocktails were lovely, (maybe a little on the strong side as we forgot to buy crushed ice before we started!) the pizza was really nice and the brownie was lovely too, maybe a little rich but as it was so small it was just enough.
I would definitely do something like this again if we were in lockdown any longer, but I think I would also do it out of lockdown too as it is really nice making the meal and spending a little extra time together! There are lots of different meal kits available at the moment so if you were thinking of ordering one, DO IT!
This does sound like fun and the pizza looks great too!
