Sunday 16th May 2021
Myself and my boyfriend visited Posillipo on a random Sunday evening as we fancied a spontaneous dinner out. I have been here before for a family meal a few years ago so I thought we would go and try it again. I was dreading the decision slightly because at the time, we had to eat outside and it was raining pretty heavily, but we went ahead with our plan anyway!
When we arrived, they seated us very promptly and put us on a small table for two in the middle. To be completely honest, I wasn’t 100% happy with the table as it was very small and it was connected to another couple that sat next to us which felt a little weird. It also wasn’t the most ideal setting because the outdoor area is pretty small so it felt very cramped. On a positive note, it was quite warm outside, despite the weather, as the restaurant is next to a large building which protects you from the wind. They also had a lovely marquee so we didn’t get wet at all.
We decided to get a starter as well as a main. We both got the bruschetta and some warm bread with oil and balsamic vinegar. I had the Fettuccine al Forno as a main and Martin had the Vesuvio Pizza. Our starter was delicious and the bread was also lovely, It was so warm and tasted delicious. I was slightly disappointed with my main, I thought it was very salty and I just couldn’t eat the rest. Martin said his pizza was lovely and he finished it all! Our bill came to a total of around £40 including our two Coca Colas which I didn’t think was too bad.
Overall, I thought the service at Posillipo was great, they were very welcoming and polite. However I wasn’t too keen on my main meal or our seating arrangement. I would recommend this restaurant as it had a lovely vibe with lots of tasty options on the menu, I would just advise against the Fettuccine al Forno.
