Rating: 5 out of 5.

Myself and my boyfriend were kindly invited to try out the Soar Electric go karts in Gillingham which actually came as a shock to me because I thought they only had a trampoline park!

As we arrived, the staff were extremely friendly. In particular, Rob who gave us an explanation of the karts and the track. Initial impressions were, WOW! The track was so much bigger than I expected. From the outside, it looks quite small but as soon as you walk in and see the track from the viewing windows, it looks incredible. The karts themselves were excellent. I was quite skeptical before I arrived, I didn’t really know what to expect so I was definitely surprised when I saw that we were driving around a one million pound venue with go karts that reach speeds of up to 45mph!

Once we had the talk, we got straight into the fun! We were given a head sock and we picked out our helmets (all of which were very clean and sanitary by the way). Then all we had to do was watch the interactive screen and wait for our time to drive. I am very competitive so I tried my hardest to beat as many people as I could however I came third out of 5 which isn’t the worst but also isn’t the best…I did overtake my boyfriend though so that’s a win I guess?

What do they offer?

  • Stag and Hen do’s
  • Junior Academy – where younger teens/children are taught how to drive
  • Birthday parties
  • Corporate events
  • Grand Prix events

Or, if you fancy a quick spin, you can just choose the ‘arrive and drive‘ option.

For all you fanatics out there, here are some of the facts about the karts and track:

  • Most efficient electric motors
  • Protex Barrier system
  • OTL EFD Storm Kart
  • Has a Formula 1 style push button
  • 6 speeds – top speed 45mph

For those who aren’t as clued up on go karts, I thought it was also very important to mention:

  • Lighter steering – very good for children as they are much easier to control
  • There is a high bar on the back which gives extra protection in case there is a collision
  • You don’t need to wear a race suit as the karts are electric

Overall, this was a great experience and it’s in such a great location. I would definitely recommend this to anyone, especially because they cater to literally everyone! Whether you fancy a fun night out with mates or you need somewhere to take the kids, this is the ideal attraction.
